What is the Super Visa for parents and grandparents?

The Super Visa is a multiple-entry visa that allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time. It was introduced in December 2011 as a way to help reunite families.
With the Super Visa, parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be able to visit their family in Canada for up to five years without having to renew their status. This will start on July 4, 2022. People who already have a Super Visa will be able to apply for an extension that could let them stay in Canada as a tourist for up to 7 years. With the Super Visa, parents and grandparents can come to Canada more than once over a period of up to 10 years. Before July 4, 2022, people with a Super Visa could stay in Canada for up to two years.

The Super Visa is available all year long, and it has minimum income requirements, just like the Parents and Grandparents Program.

The Super Visa is perfect for parents and grandparents who live in countries that require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to enter Canada.
By getting the Super Visa, they will be able to travel freely between Canada and their home country without having to worry about and go through the trouble of getting a TRV every time.
Even if you don't need a TRV to get into Canada, you can still apply using the same process. Instead of a visa, they will get an official letter from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that lets them stay for up to two years at their first entry.
Who can apply for a Super Visa?

The Super Visa is open to the parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents. The applicants can't be turned away from Canada because of their health or safety, and they may have to meet certain requirements set by the visa office where they will apply.
It's important to know that this application can't have any dependents on it. The Super Visa can only be applied for by parents or grandparents, along with their spouses or common-law partners.
What is the Super Visa application process?

The process for applying is the same as for a regular TRV. But more paperwork is needed to make sure that the parents and grandparents will be taken care of while they are in Canada.
The requirements include:
-
A letter from the child or grandchild who lives in Canada inviting you to visit;
-
Documents showing that the child or grandchild meets the minimum LICO threshold;
-
Proof of a parent-child or grandparent-child relationship, like a birth certificate that lists him or her as a parent; and
-
Proof that you have had health insurance for at least a year with a Canadian company.

The application should be handled by the Canadian visa office in charge of the place where the applicant lives outside of Canada. Depending on the visa office, you may need to bring in more paperwork.

Several things will be taken into account when judging the whole application. The goal of the trip to Canada will be looked at, as well as whether or not the parents or grandparents will stay connected to their home country enough. This can be shown by showing family ties, finances, and other connections that are outside of Canada.

All people who want a Super Visa will have to go through a medical exam. After the application has been sent to the visa office, forms and instructions for this test will be sent out.
What are the eligibility requirements to apply for Super Visa?

To qualify for a Super Visa, the child or grandchild who is inviting their parents or grandparents will need to prove that their household meets the required Low Income Cut-Off (LICO). This proof may consist of the following documents:
-
Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1 for the most recent tax year;
-
Employment Insurance stubs;
-
An employment letter including salary and date of hiring;
-
Pay stubs; or
-
bank statements.
LICO Table
Size of Family | Minimum Necessary Gross Income |
---|---|
1 person (your child or grandchild) | $29,380 |

A work permit is a legal document that lets a person who is not a Canadian citizen work in Canada. About half a million work permits are given to temporary foreign workers from all over the world every year.

Many people from other countries move to Canada in search of better job prospects. If you want to move to Canada permanently, getting a job there is a great first step.

The process of acquiring a work permit in Canada can be done in a variety of different ways. Work permits can be broken down into three categories: those that require a job offer from a Canadian employer; those that require an employer to submit a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA); and those that require the applicant to have some kind of connection to Canada (previous education, spousal sponsorship, etc.).
Sponsor your Dependent Child(ren)

You can sponsor your dependent children, whether natural or adopted, to live with you as permanent residents in Canada.
Children must meet the following definition of a dependent child to be eligible for sponsorship:
-
A child is considered a dependent if he or she is not married or in a common-law relationship and is under 22 years of age.
-
If a child is over 22 years of age, they may be considered a dependent if they have a physical or mental condition that prevents them from being able to support themselves.
To be eligible under this program, you:
-

On what grounds can my Spousal Sponsorship application to Canada be refused?

Always remember that the burden of proof lies with the applicant. The immigration department of Canada will make a decision on proof that they find genuine and authentic. If for any reasons, an assessing officer doubts that you marriage is purely a marriage of convenience, your application will be denied.

Here are some of the main reasons why your application could be refused:

-
You did not provide enough proof of relationship to prove it is legitimate;
-
There were errors in the Canadian spousal sponsorship forms;
-
There was a misrepresentation of facts presented in your application;
-
You are unable to meet basic requirements for spousal sponsorship;
-
You or your partner are inadmissible due to a conviction or pose a risk to Canadian society.
